This is a first run Pleasant Company Girl of Today #9 Doll. The line of dolls was introduced in the 1995 Holiday catalog with 20 dolls. They had 1 of 3 face molds, Classic, Addy or Asian, this doll has the classic mold. The face paint on the 1995 and 1996 dolls is very nude. The 1997 dolls got more color.
The skin color options were light, medium and dark. There were 5 eye colors: blue, green, grey, light brown and dark brown.
This doll has the hard to find grey eyes. The straight hair wigs came with bangs and the ends slightly turned under. They came in Red, Blonde, Light Brown and Dark Brown. This one has the light brown wig. All the wigs were the same length.
Only a few from the first year have wig bands, this one does. There were also dolls with black textured hair. Those wigs were slightly longer and came with or without bangs depending on the doll.
This number 9 GOT doll is a twin to Molly. She has the same face, and eyes. However the wigs are different. This one does not have the short hairs that run down the part line for braids like Mollys, and this one's wig is thicker and shorter. Most of the dolls with grey eyes were retired much sooner making them hard to find.
Another problem was the grey eyes tend to get silver eye and early owners threw the dolls away making finding them on the second hand market harder. This doll has a 1994 neck stamp. Samantha heads were not used because the brown eyes for Samantha are different from the dolls in this line. This doll does not have the body tag seen on 1996 dolls.
She comes in the first run of the Mix and Match meet outfit. The white shirt has clear snaps. This was changed to velcro on later runs. I don't have the rest of the accessories, or the doll box or the writing books. She is very clean, holds a pose. Her hair is soft and in excellent condition.
