I went over it very carefully and found one small little nick on the top, it is pictured in photo #12. You really have to look to notice it.
Also there is a slight gap in one of the seams on the top of the chest. It may have always been that way.
I never noticed it, but wanted to mention it for accuracy. I live in a very dry climate and the wood could have dried out some. The trunk was only used for clothing and accessory storage. A catalog from 1999 describes the chest as follows Josefina's wooden CHEST is a traditional New Mexican treasure; It's carved on the front and sides and has heavy, rustic hardware. The mortise and tenon joints are fashioned just as they would have been in 1824.There's plenty of storage space inside for a removable tray on top that's just Josefina's size! Width: 23 1/2" Height 12 1/2" Depth 11.
Have taken many more photos than I can upload so if you want more photos or have question please don't hesitate to contact me and I will get right back to you. Josefina and all of her collection has been carefully stored for 10+ years. I have decided to sell the whole collection, so check out my other auctions. This is the 20th anniversary of Josefina 1997 release a perfect addition to your American Girl Collection! The chest is heavy weighting almost 11 pounds.
