This is a doll for an American Girl Doll collector. One of American Girl's first three historical characters. This hard-to-find vintage Pleasant Company (Pre-Mattel) doll was made in West Germany between 1988 and 1990. Kirsten was officially archived in January 2010, though a Special Edition version was released for the 35th anniversary in 2021. The neck stamp is the original "Pleasant Company" used in the late 1980s until 1990.

Artist's mark is visible at hairline on the back of the neck, above the... All original, no restoration parts. Transitional doll, with all the traits of the original white body dolls except for her tan cloth torso. She has the transitional doll's rounded, white neck strings, which are fully intact and long, allowing for tight limbs that can hold a pose. Body is clean with no marks and no odor.

Rare tinsel hair well-maintained using only original Pleasant Company brush, kept loose or in classic dual braids. Thick bangs with wispy ends characteristic of late 80s and early 90s, as opposed to the blunt cut and smoother texture of wigs from 1992 and after. Like the body, her face is also the older chubby style, round with chubby cheeks and big front teeth.

Her bright blue eyes show no silver, have fully intact long, curled eyelashes. Her eyelids open and close properly.

Doll comes with original 1986 Meet outfit (itemized list below), Pleasant Company brush, and 1988 introductory brochure. Not included/missing items, also noted below: 1 of the blue hair ribbons, paperback "Meet Kirsten" story book. Received as gift in 1989 or 1990.

Although I played with the doll, I handled her gently with the understanding that she was a collector's item, treating her like an ornament rather than a toy: no alterations, no damage, daily storage in Pleasant Company trunk during active use. She has been in climate-controlled long-term in-home storage since 1993. All original, no restoration work, just proper care and storage. Never taken out of playroom, on trips or outside. Kept out of direct sunlight.

Always stored in 1st edition Molly's wardrobe trunk if not "in use". No contact with pets or toddlers. 2- Pleasant Company doll hair brush.

3- Pre-Mattel EUC vintage 1990 Pleasant Company Kirsten Larson doll - Transitional tan body. Pleasant Company neck stamp dates to late 1980's early 1990s. Artist's mark visible at hairline on the right side of the back of the neck above the last letters of the PC neck stamp.

Tan body, older chubby style; Clean, no marks, no odor. Long white neck strings, limbs tight; Holds a pose. Tinsel hair is soft with think bangs; Hair kept loose or in 2 braids; Brushed using original PC doll brush, in good condition, though there is some breakage and dryness due to age36 years old! Bright blue eyes, fully functional(open and close based on angle): no silver eye; lashes soft with curl and all intact.

Older style mouth with big front teeth. 4- Original 1986 Meet outfit. Dress: 1986 tags detail doll materials, made in West Germany, tag text above in dol description. Red and white striped apron. Petticoat (Extra item, made using Pleasant Company doll clothing patterns).

Soft leather boots with laces. 1 blue ribbon (MISSING 2nd ribbon).

2nd blue hair ribbon,'Meet Kirsten' paperback book, original box/packaging. Please let me know if you would like me to check for a specific attribute or post additional photos.

Listed by original owner, gently used as collectible toy, treated as ornament until being stored (climate-controlled, in-home) since 1993. No contact with house pets. Never used out of playroom, no travel/playdates, never outside, never displayed/shelved or exposed to direct sunlight.

Always "put to bed" at end of day in Molly's wardrobe trunk. Although gently loved, "play" was minimal, treated as collectible toys and ornaments. Never altered or damaged, carefully stored for long-term preservation.

No restoration work or replacement parts. Please let me know if there is an attribute that you would like me to check/post photos.

Please carefully review the photos to confirm condition, as this is a 35 year old item that was gently loved as collectable and ornamental toy.
